Christmas tree
Silvered with rain
my window frames
the cherry tree
its last leaves
like yellowed teeth
in an old mouth
as birds flock off south
days dissolve to night
and life’s lit by electric lights
but somewhere
its needles sharp and bright
an evergreen grows for me
my cheery Christmas tree.
