Steve Walter – But the wine and the song…

But the wine and the song…

Choose a leaf, a single leaf; lime, oak, chestnut, elm
retrieve a memory; first kiss, touch, smile
relive a ritual; birth, youth, death
imagine fire, storm, lightning, water over stone
count the passing moments in 3,5,7,9 time
select a season, a jukebox record
watch it play; a glittering mechanism of movement
know her thoughts, his thoughts, your becoming.

Steve is a poet and writer living in Tunbridge Wells – we won’t mention his day job! His first pamphlet of poems is due out with Indigo Dreams towards the end of 2016. He’s written two books on mental health: Fast Train Approaching and Voices – mental health survivors, carers, therapist, family and friends. For more visit: www.makingconnectionsmatter.org
